This is not a place for thought...
Over the weekend I had the chance to visit a local brewery. A quick glance at the menu revealed a few notable details.
First, at this brewery, the menu was designed as if in The Upside Down. What I mean is that in a normal bar you find overpriced booze and relatively cheap (and awful) food. Well at this place everything was inverted. Well, not everything. The food was still awful, but it cost 3x what it should.
But let’s not let that funny detail derail this from what I really wanted to highlight. Our table ordered a bucket of water. Price $10. Seems about right, ten bucks for 4 cans of water. $2.50 per 12oz. can of refreshing water.
So what’s the big deal here? Well, if you’re living just about anywhere on the planet that needs fuel, petrol, gas - pick your word - people are very, very, very upset about expensive fuel. Currently the average price for a gallon of fuel in the US is around $5.10.
I skipped drinking. The water.
But the delightful brew I enjoyed open the gate to this observation. We had just ordered water at about $26 per gallon. Look, don’t ask for complicated math here but I think this is the right calculation. Feel free to give me the new math if I’m wrong.
I’m going to stretch here and state that maybe we’re very, very, very upset about the price of the wrong liquid. But as the title reads, this isn’t a place for thought.
